The participation of women in political life and their access to decision-making institutions,
especially parliament and the government, is necessary for the full enjoyment of citizenship,
public freedoms and active participation. And in order to shed light on one of the important
aspects in promoting women’s participation in the decision-making process through their
representation in the House of Representatives or in the government, which is the empowerment
policies reinforced by the global quota system and its problems, and the specificity of Libyan
society defined by the reference framework of religion, values and social virtues. The issue of
women and their political rights has been able to impose itself by transforming many of the
women’s demands into real laws in force in many Arab countries. However, the advancement
of the status of women still requires the concerted efforts of all components of society,
especially in light of the political and economic crises we are experiencing today.
