The current study aimed to investigate the nomophobia "NMP" or pathological fear of being without a mobile phone of prevalence among a sample of students at the Faculty of Medical Technology, Azzaytuna University, Tarhuna, Libya. A sample consisted of 80 students (5 males and 75 females), aged 19-20 years, with a mean age of 19.7 years, a standard deviation of 0.42. The NMP-Q mobile phone phobia questionnaire by Yıldırım and Correia (2015) was used after being translated and validated for the local context by the researcher. The results of this study revealed a high prevalence of nomophobia in Participating students. Furthermore, the Findings indicated differences in gender favoring females over males. The recommends further exploration of the relationship between psychological and biological variables to enhance understanding of the dynamics of excessive smartphone use among university students, particularly medical students locally. This could enable us to manage and regulate their smartphone use more effectively and positively.
